Oil and Water: Policy, Progress, and the Path Forward (Darcy Aston Memorial Lecture)

Assemblymember Steve Bennett joined Asm. Gregg Hart (AD-37) and Environmental Defense Center's Chief Counsel Linda Krop on a panel speaking on oil and water issues on the Central Coast. The UCSB Environmental Studies Darcy Aston Memorial Lecture was held on May 15, 2026 in Downtown Santa Barbara.

Ventura District Attorney Erik Nasarenko Testifies in Support of AB 2075 to Strengthen Wildfire Prevention Laws

AB 2075, authored by Assemblymember Steve Bennett and sponsored by District Attorney Nasarenko, was introduced in response to the 2024 Mountain Fire in Ventura County. That fire burned nearly 20,000 acres and destroyed hundreds of structures after a smaller vegetation fire, caused during a brush clearing effort, reignited days later due to lingering hot debris.

Dolores Huerta Speaks to Students During National Trio Day at Oxnard College

"We are here to serve first generation low income high school students as well as Oxnard college students, and so being able to have Dolores Huerta come and speak to this community is extremely important, especially a community that has a lot of migrant farm workers." State Assemblymember Steve Bennett and other elected leaders also took part.
